How do I export Shopify inventory data from Stock Monitor?
There is an Export button on three screens: the Products list, a product’s page and a variant’s page. Each one downloads a CSV file to your computer when you click it. Nothing is emailed and nothing is scheduled.
The files hold stock quantities, stock status, days out of stock, value, cost and price. They do not include sales or order data, and they have no column for stock by location.
How do I export the products list?
- In Stock Monitor, choose Products.
- Choose a period with the date button, then search, filter or tick products if you want only some of them.
- Click Export.
- Choose what to export: Current page (the 20 products on screen), All products, Selected products (the ones you ticked), or the products matching your search or filters.
- Click Export products. The file is named products followed by today’s date.
What is in the products file?
There is one row per product, with these columns: ID, Title, Status, Inventory Quantity, Days Out of Stock, Out of Stock Since, Inventory Value, Cost, Price, Product Type, Vendor and Tags.
- Days Out of Stock counts the days in the period you chose with the date button.
- Out of Stock Since is the date the product was last in stock, written year, month, day. It reads N/A unless the product is out of stock now.
- Inventory Value follows your inventory value setting. Cost and Price show a range when a product’s variants differ.
- All products covers active, published products where every variant tracks inventory, leaving out anything you have excluded. It can be shorter than the list on screen.
How do I export one product or variant?
Open the product and click Export, which appears once the product has some history. Then click Export again in the Export product box. The file has one row per day with Date, Stock Status, Inventory Quantity, Inventory Value, Cost and Price. Dates are written year, month, day.
On a variant’s page, click Export and choose Selected variant or All variants. The columns are ID, SKU, Title, Date, Stock Status, Inventory Quantity, Inventory Value, Cost and Price. Dates use your regional format with a two-digit year. Stock Status here is only In stock or Out of stock.
The one-product file and the variant file hold all the history the app shows, which is up to the last 365 days. The products list file has one row per product, and only its Days Out of Stock column follows the period you chose on screen.
What is in the daily report file?
The out of stock report that Stock Monitor sends each day by email or to Slack has a CSV attached. Its columns are ID, Title, Last In Stock and Days Out of Stock.
Should I export before I uninstall?
Yes. Your history is deleted after you uninstall, so export it first. See what happens to your data.
