What happens to my data if I uninstall Stock Monitor?
Daily tracking stops, reports stop within about a day and the Slack connection is removed. About 48 hours later Shopify asks Stock Monitor to delete your store’s data, and Stock Monitor then deletes it from its database, including the store record.

What happens straight away?
- Daily stock tracking stops.
- Email and Slack reports stop within about a day. A report that was already scheduled may still arrive.
- If you had connected Slack, Stock Monitor removes its Slack app from your Slack workspace where it can, and deletes the Slack access token it saved. Your Slack channel settings are deleted with the rest of your data.
The rest of your data is not deleted at this point. Stock Monitor only reads your products, inventory and locations, so uninstalling does not change any of them in your Shopify store.
When does deletion start?
About 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify sends Stock Monitor a request to delete your store’s data. Stock Monitor then deletes your store’s data from its database:
- your stock history and the logs of reports and notifications;
- your email, Slack and stock tracking settings, including the report email addresses you added and the store contact details Shopify shares with us;
- the products, variants, inventory items, image records, options and locations it copied from Shopify;
- your plan and sync records, and your sign-in sessions;
- finally, your store record itself.
This runs in the background in batches, so a store with a lot of history takes longer. Deletion cannot be undone.
Reports already sent to your inbox or your Slack channel stay where they are, because they are in your own accounts.
What should I save before I uninstall?
Export what you want to keep. The products list, each product and each variant can be downloaded as a CSV file, see how to export your data. Exports cover up to the last 365 days, the most the app shows at the moment, so anything older cannot be exported. You may also want to note down your settings, such as your excluded products, your low stock threshold and your report recipients.
What if I reinstall?
If you reinstall before Shopify’s deletion request arrives, your history and settings are still there. The one exception is the Slack connection, which is removed when you uninstall, so you would need to connect Slack again. Tracking and reports stay off until you choose a plan again and it becomes active. If you had already started a plan, reinstalling does not give you a new free trial.
If you reinstall while deletion is already running, deletion stops, but anything it had already removed is not restored. Some history, product data or settings may be missing. If that happens, email [email protected] with your store’s web address.
If you reinstall after deletion has finished, you start again from nothing, with no earlier history.
What happens to my billing?
Stock Monitor does not take payment itself. Plans and any extra SKU charges are billed by Shopify, see plans. When you uninstall, Shopify cancels your Stock Monitor subscription, so no new billing period starts. Shopify does not apply a credit for the rest of a billing period you have already paid for. If you reinstall, you choose a plan again, and that starts a new subscription.
Can I have my data deleted sooner?
